YOU ARE NOT ALONE ACROSS TIME

Materials: Wool fiber, reclaimed cotton and synthetic fibers. Industrial felt backing.

This work is finished with an industrial felt backing and features a small D-ring for hanging at the top center of each piece.

This work is a continuation of a study I began last year with the first iteration of You Are Not Alone Across Time, study. Through these pieces, I explore the concept brought up by Brian Doerries that we are not alone across time.

Since starting my study and finally bringing the piece to its conclusion, I found that the sentiment of this work that I was exploring had never been truer in my life. Many heavy things have sprung up in my world and I kept clinging to the belief that I am not alone across time.

When life feels like the pressure in contorting us, changing us, forcing us to new
realizations, it’s somewhat comforting to sit in the thought that others have been here before and we are not alone in this time. There is a through-line that connects us if we open our eyes to it. We won’t be alone in the time to come. And those that follow after us will not be alone because we’ve been here before them and made it through. And the line that connection us keeps growing.
