What I'm Listening To... 8/29

Week of Aug. 29

New to What I’m Listening To…? Start here.

This week was a rough one for me. I spent a lot of time in silence. If I was listening to something, it was my Book Club’s pick for the month of September. It’s a hefty audiobook (18 hours long, wowzaaaa!), so that took up a ton of my listening space. Aaaaaall that to say there is no Spotify playlist for this week. We’ll get back on track for next week though. :)

I was able to catch one poetry reading this week and it was just what I needed to hear. Pádraig opened up the reading with this:

“…Poetry is really interested in stopping in small moments and telling the story of that moment. And that can be really helpful when you’re stuck in a story where you can’t see the outcome, or you’re stuck in a story of pain and you’re not sure how it’s gonna work out, to turn to poetry that isn’t trying to say, “Oh, it’ll all be fine,” but it is helping you to cast your eye on small moments that can give you some fortitude and that can help you through.”

I really needed to hear that this week and to hear the poem that followed. Check it out.
